How are kids in HS and college responsible for the soaring costs of tuition?

You guys have no idea how good it feels to be going to school and actually being paid for it this time. Whereas I had to take out a $50k loan just to attend my undergrad, and an additional $15k for my masters at SMU (both of these degrees were on big scholarships too..), the PhD program at SMU is actually giving $20k/year stipend, health benefits, and paid tuition. I'll actually be able to make head-way in the loans and start trying to pay off the accumulated interest. My older brother went to NYU on a 60%+ paid scholarship and still left the school with $100k in loans. If you're busting your [deleted] with school, taking on various jobs at the same time, are on multiple scholarships, and still finish with $50-100k in debt, something has gone terribly wrong in the system.
What conference are we in exactly?

Well said - Comet. I'm experiencing it now with my son who is playing baseball with a 40% scholarship. What a joke!!! I have a feeling something will happen in the next 5 to 10 to change all this though.
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.
