You must’ve graduated from SMU quite a while ago. Admission to Cox has been increasingly tough every year. My kids attend SMU and son was denied admission to Cox but started as a computer science major. Go figure.

Nothing has changed. If your son can pass and do well in comp sci courses
then Im sure he is in at Cox. SEAS has always been for those who can cut it
academically. Sadly, Cox is not an academic pursuit. Just ask Jeff Skilling, a SEAS
drop out that ended up 2nd in his class at Harvard.. B school.

Important to remember: if one can do well in basketweaving at Tarleton State then she/he
is an attractive candidate to COX. Encourage your son to stick with comp sci. Might open
up worlds to him. The BBA pales in comparison to a techinical degree when it comes to
med school or even law school admissions.

I did not attend SMU but I probably know more about the school than most graduates. My spouse has taught there for 22 years, both kids attend and are active and I’ve been a Cox MBA associate board mentor for 20 years. I was also one of the 1500 in the lean hoops years.
