Ivo, Kalis Selected In MLS Supplemental Draft

NEW YORK (SMU) - SMU men's soccer players Arthur Ivo and Ian Kalis were selected in Major League Soccer's Supplemental Draft Tuesday. Ivo was taken as the fourth pick in the third round by Toronto FC, while Kalis was drafted by FC Dallas with the 11th pick in the fourth round.
Ivo played in 71 games for the Mustangs over his four-year career, notching 24 goals and assisting on 20 others. He tallied eight game-winning goals and converted all five penalty kicks he attempted. In 2011, Ivo was a First-Team All-Midwest Region and a First-Team All-Conference USA selection for the second consecutive season. He was tabbed the Offensive MVP of this year's C-USA Tournament. The midfielder appeared in 20 games for SMU, leading the team in goals (10), assists (10) and points (30). He also had a team-best four game-winning goals, including overtime game-clinchers at Duke and South Carolina.
Kalis appeared 53 games over three seasons for SMU after transferring from Duke. The defender scored one goal and added six assists over his career as a Mustang. In 2011, Kalis started 20 games, averaging 82.4 minutes per contest, tallying one goal and assisting on two others. He scored his first career goal against Oakland and assisted on the game-winning goal against Missouri State.
