Boise State Commitment List

From the Big East board: Looks a little like ours, doesn't it? Wonder if their fans are whining or maybe they trust their coaches. We'll see in a couple of years.

Remember Boise can get transfers that we can't. Also, from what someone else posted they get 2nd chance players that we can't get that have been in more trouble than our 2nd chance players.

But just to give you another vantage point from another one of our future Big East conference partners.

UCF has 7 commits with a total of 30 BCS offers.

Bottom line is that Boise State has a great head coach and football staff. They coach up kids and instill confidence. Not sure they get any measurable % of alleged 2d chance kids, JUCOs and all those other marginal kids. They simply have a good program and should be respected for their results.

They do have a good coaching staff but someone on this board looked at the impact players a while back and good portion of them fell into the category. But yes their staff does a really good job in all phases of the game.

Difference is that they have a reason to trust that their coaches will turn those players into contributors on very successful teams. If June was winning 92 percent of his games and finishing in the Top 15 every year with marginal recruits then most people really wouldn't give a damn who he was recruiting. June has never proven he's that good of a coach which is why it's troubling to see him continue to fill up on the same caliber recruits he's only won 59 percent of his games with.

While it is Wash St, they do have three players with BCS school offers. I believe we still have zero

TCU has 9 commitments with 54 BCS offers. How many we got? SMU fans on Rivals are doing a victory dance for out latest recruit with offers from Cornell(Div. 1-AA), Navy (exempt from NCAA scholarship rules) and SDSU as in South Dakota St. (Div. 1-AA) Not a single legitimate Division 1A offer-again.

Stallion, much of what you say is on target, but this kid is a three star (per Scout). Had he shown more interest I believe he would have gotten those offers. Recruiting is a two-way effort. If a kid doens't show much interest, neither will the school. There is still a long way to go and new offers are still being made daily by major programs. If you read some local articles on this kid you will see ASU had begun to recruit him as well as Arizona. Finally, this was a Mason recruit, he has the best record on the staff for recgonizing and evaluating talent. I would bet the two Arizona recruits were uncovered by someone he trusts, which is why he went to Arizona in the first place.

The other commits will have to prove themselves when they get here, but I just believe this one is much better than some of the others.

I'd rather win football games than the recruiting stars game. Do they correlate? Probably, at least somewhat, but you couldn't prove that by UT and A&M lately. Or by TCU and Boise, which weren't in the Top 20. Wasn't UT in the Top 5 for the last decade? So some other factors should be taken into account, yes? BTW, Stallion, what's your take on Sports 247 recruiting rankings?

The teams winning the "recruiting stars games" are the ones winning national championships. We're never going to make it anywhere near that level with this pedestrian coaching staff (who hasn't proven they can even reach or sustain the level of winning that TCU and Boise State have). Considering how thoroughly we're getting beaten out on the recruiting trail by our future opponents it's a sound bet we won't even be able to sustain our currently level of mediocrity.

Alabama has been ranked number 1 in recruiting 3 of the past 5 years and I believe they have won the national championship twice during that span of time.

Also, we should remember that June and his staff of coach-em-up stalwarts were a whisker away from taking the Arizona State job - that's not throwing salt in any way - that's a simple fact. The staff and the system and the head coach were very close to taking a position at another school, and bringing a considerable number of prospects, and the two main recruiters at the time (Klemm and Jeff R.). There goes the system and the guy who "gets more with less" leaving the school to now do less with less. Even if you're the most ardent June and RnS supporter, it simply behooves us to stockpile as much talent as possible, and recruit at as high a level as possible, because one day, there will be a new staff and a new system and a bunch of new coaches.

Yes, we need a "great" coach A.J. and with our track record we ought to be able to buy one. I see year 1A.J. as being 2014 A.D. A coach that can win the NBE. I do believe our 4* - 5* recruiting days are a long way off as are many other private schools excluding USC and ND. But we may still be able to win football games much as TCU and Boise have done with less recruiting stars. That's my point.
